The winners of the 12th Webby Awards for best web sites were announced yesterday…, some of the winners:

-Banking : www.lendingclub.com …..and I like the name of that web site already

-Writing: www.wired.com ….mostly wired on coffee so…. they write really fast

-Broadband: www.abc.com ….they’ve done the best job of moving their shows onto the internet so you can watch episodes of Lost…..in case you finish watching one and want to go back to figure out… when did they cover that storyline???

-Celebrity: www.annielennox.com …..and apparently she’s been concentrating on the web site because she certainly hasn’t been doing much with making music

-Charitable Organization: www.katrinamedia.org ….I guess it’s easy to judge this category… which site brought in the most cash

-Education: www.earth.columbia.edu ….Columbia University’s site dedicated to the Earth….watch the place warm before your very eyes

-Employment: www.consulcareers.com ….not a good one to check out… while you’re at work

-Family / Parenting: www.kidshealth.org ….they have great health information and none of it is based on…. what products they’re trying to sell

-Fashion: www.journeys.louisvuitton.com ….although personally… I voted for the Victoria Secret site over and over again… but that’s just me

-Food and Beverage: www.gettheglass.com ….this is a milk web site….which is surprising… that this award wasn’t won by… a beer company site since women in bikini’s way more fun to look at that women…. wearing milk mustaches

-Games: www.kongregate.com ….I’m not much of a game player so I’ll take their word for it

-Government: www.peacecorps.gov/teens/ ….a place to send your teens to get them off your hands… great idea

-Health: www.trydrugs.net ….although I must admit… I’m having a problem if I catch my kid typing in the web site… try drugs dot net

-Humor: www.theonion.com … this is the web site that makes up funny news stories… as opposed to the tabloids that make up funny…… entertainment stories

-Law: www.out-law.com …..sounds like the kind of place…. The bad guys go for advice

-Magazine: www.ngm.com (National Geographic) ….some people still can’t get enough of those pictures of topless tribes from Africa

-Movie and Film: www.simpsonsmovie.com ….a very funny web site which was helped by.. a very funny movie

-News: www.nytimes.com ….of course it was the New York Times that called the Webby’s the most important awards on the web so…. I guess picking them was a no brainer

-Personal Web Site: www.thewhalehunt.org ….which isn’t about whales or hunting in case you were hoping

-Politics: www.factcheck.org …a great site that provides the real facts whenever a politician gives a speech stating “facts” ….and it truly is amazing… how often politicians… don’t have the facts right… they should use this web site more often

-Radio: www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/ …. Just like to listen to it for the cool accents

-Religion: www.speakingoffaith.org …..which covers all faiths and mentions nothing about going to hell if you don’t follow theirs

-Restaurant: www.meandmybod.com ….sounds like health food to me… no thanks

-Retail: www.ikea.ca/mattress ….a very funny web site where you can try virtual mattresses…. Again, not a great site to visit while you’re at work unless you’re allowed to nap at your desk

-Science: www.nature.com …..and not naturalist.com ….. that’s different … trust me

-Social Networking: www.flock.com ….is that the new Facebook???

-Sports: www.sports.yahoo.com …..no one lists scores better
