EVENT: The Prince George & District Music Festival

WHAT: a competition for local music students. Performances run three times daily at two local churches. Piano March 3-8 The Piano discipline is adjudicated this year by Anne Wilson Unger from Monday March 3rd to Saturday March 8th at the Evangelical Free Church. Anne Wilson Unger works as an adjudicator and clinician throughout British Columbia. She has taught and conducted for many years. She holds a Masters of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Western Washington, BMus degree in Piano Performance from the University of Victoria, an AVCM with the Victoria Conservatory of Music and an ARCT with the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Vocal Choral March 5-9 Vocal and Choral adjudications take place at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Wednesday March 5th to Sunday March 9th. The adjudicator this year, Kimberley Denis is known for her energy, creativity, enthusiasm and versatility. She has a Master of Music in both Choral conducting and Vocal Performance. Kimberley Denis studied music at the University of Alberta, Mount Allison University, Red Deer College and Indiana State University.
Instrumental March 10 Lynn Giesbrecht is our instrumental adjudicator this year for the Prince George & District Music Festival. Monday March 10, you can visit Our Saviour's Lutheran Church to hear Woodwind and Brass music. Lynn earned a Bachelor of Music from McGill University and is one of our own. She has played with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra and is very passionate about passing the gift of music on to the next generation. She currently teaches math and recorder as well as developing a band program at Westside Academy here in Prince George.

MORE: The first annual Slope for Hopes Festival to help raise funds to assist the Canadian Cancer Society in the pursuit of their mission - the eradication of cancer and enhancement of the quality of life for those living with cancer. The main event is Ski Everest where the goal for the participants is to make their way down the ski hill as many times as it would take to cover the vertical height of Mount Everest. There will be different levels for kids, adults and the real ski fanatics. Every Participant is asked to raise a minimum of $100 in advance pledges to support the Canadian Cancer Society. Participants will be charged a registration fee and will receive half price lift tickets for their efforts if they have raised $100. While the skiers make their way up and down the hill, a number of family events will happen at the base of the hill.
