EVENT: Savers Optical Third World Eye Care

WHAT: Savers Optical has partnered with the Third World Eye Care Society and are offering customers a way to trade in their old glasses and help others in the process. Bring in a pair of glasses that are in decent shape and they will refurbish them to give to underprivileged people throughout the developing world. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease that attacks the motor neurons that transmit electrical impulses from the brain to voluntary muscles in the body. When these muscles fail to receive messages, they lose strength, atrophy and die. ALS can hit anyone, at any time, regardless of age, gender or ethnic origin. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is 3-5 years. The ALS committee's mission is to find the cause or a cure for ALS. Also a commitment to providing support for ALS patients, their families and caregivers. The Prince George ALS committee has only four committee members. EVENT: Haywood Noram Western Canadian Cross-Country ski Championships

MORE: Caledonia Nordic Ski Club will host the ski competition for the 2014 Winter Games. The event will attract athletes from across Canada who will be vying for positions on Canada’s 2014-15 World Cup Team. Additionally athletes from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon Territories, and the
Northwest Territories will be representing their province in order to determine the Western Canadian
Champions. It is expected that approximately 350 athletes will compete from across Canada.
